A previous post I wrote was about population density. In that post, I displayed a map emphasizing the high density found in East Asia:

This map, shared by Max Roser on Twitter, is also fascinating. It illustrates how sparsely populated much of the Earth’s landmass truly is. The blue regions are home to only 5% of the global population (roughly 350 million individuals). Surprisingly, the same number of people—5%—reside in the small red region:
