In case you missed it, here’s a summary of the first Trump-Biden Debate:
Chris Wallace: Good evening. I’m Chris Wallace, and I welcome you to what I predict will be a highly challenging experience. There will be six 15-minute segments, each covering a different topic. Both candidates will have two minutes to respond at the start of each segment. The remainder will be open discussion. Let’s welcome the candidates.
[CANDIDATES ENTER]
Wallace: Let’s kick off with the Supreme Court. President Trump, you nominated Amy Coney Barrett. Vice President Biden, you’ve criticized this. Please explain your positions.
Trump: Amy Coney Barrett is an excellent choice.
Biden: Barrett could threaten the Affordable Care Act.
Wallace: Mr. President, what is your healthcare plan?
Trump: I’ve focused on cutting drug prices.
Biden: We need to expand Obamacare.
Wallace: Moving on to Covid-19, why should people trust you over your opponent to handle this crisis?
Biden: Trump failed to respond effectively to the pandemic.
Trump: I’ve taken actions to save lives, blaming China for the outbreak.
Wallace: Turning to the economy, Mr. President.
Trump: We have a strong economy.
Biden: We need to create jobs and invest in American industries.
Wallace: Lastly, what would you each bring as President?
Trump: I’ve achieved a lot and brought unity.
Biden: Trump has made the country weaker; I aim to bring positive change.
Wallace: That concludes this debate. Thank you.
